Who We Are
Big Brothers Big Sisters WI Shoreline partners with parents/guardians, volunteers, and others in the community to ignite and support potential in our community's youth. By doing so, we are accountable for each child in our program achieving higher aspirations, greater confidence, and better relationships, avoiding risky behaviors, and improving educational success.
What We Do
Big Brothers Big Sisters WI Shoreline creates and supports one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.
Our quality programs include a community-based program, a school-based program, and a program catered specifically to high school students, called MentorU.
In the community-based program, Bigs and Littles spend time together, a few times a month, for a minimum of one year with parent support. Matches do things like taking a walk in the park, going to a sporting event or museum, listening to music, or simply hanging out and talking.
The school-based program is more structured with matches meeting weekly during the school year, at lunch in elementary schools throughout our service area.
MentorU provides mentoring to high school students at two select Sheboygan schools, with a focus on college readiness, workforce development, and career exploration. About once a month, volunteers meet with their Little at a structured event and touch base virtually weekly to discuss and work towards goals.
We also have many different fundraising events that we host throughout the year and work closely with volunteers on our committees to help make these events successful!
