On Tuesday evenings in the summer, we race our S2 7.9 at Windjammers Sailing Club in Suamico. We are looking for a few volunteers with big boat racing experience that would be willing to assist with navigating the vessel and coach participants on racing techniques. Summer racing is a 15 week series, but we are looking to have multiple two-person instructor teams to make it an easier commitment. Previous sailing experience on a bigger boat is required.

We are looking for individuals that may want to assist with boat maintenance. Boat maintenance at our organization includes: waxing boats, inspecting and rigging vessels, replacing rigging on sailboats, wiring, trailer repairs, and some basic engine maintenance to name a few categories.

A few of our boats are stored offsite and there is an occasional need to move boats to a different location locally. We are always looking for individuals that might be interested in trailering a boat or assisting with the launching or retrieval of boats. We are seeking volunteers to work in a receptionist role at our Green Bay office location. Greet clients and building visitors, answer phones, route calls, and notify staff that their visitor has arrived. May require the use of interpretation services to effectively communicate with visitors. Training is provided.

As a Citizenship Volunteer tutor, you will be matched directly with an immigrant or refugee family and support them on their journey to becoming a citizen of the United States. The Citizenship test is made up of 3 components: Correctly, responding to a selection of 100 Civics questions, confidently answering questions regarding their application (you are not responsible for completing this, as Catholic Charities Green Bay has a team dedicated to this work), and successful completion of the reading and writing components. Your role will be supporting learners as they study and prepare using materials and strategies provided by the Refugee Integration Team.

As a fundraising / grant writing volunteer, you will work with our resource development team to ensure New Leaf Foods’s access to financial resources which fund our projects and events. The NEW Zoo is looking for volunteers who are interested in supervising the Giraffe Feeding Experience! 

The Feeding Experience is a daily opportunity for volunteers to be involved in, to support the NEW Zoo. You set your own schedule after training by signing up for open shifts whenever you would like to supervise a feeding sessions. Sessions are typically 2. 5 hours long, with some variation seasonally. 

It’s a great opportunity for those who enjoy working with people – as we’ll teach you how to interact with our visitors and help them make amazing connections with our lovable giraffes, Nigel, Eddie, and Zuri!  Of course, you’ll also get to build some pretty special relationships with the giraffes themselves. Scheduling is flexible.

Childcare: Take care of children while their parents are in programming; shifts are typically 1-2 hours.

Cleaning: Wash windows; vacuum/mop floors; disinfect surfaces; clean upholstery; deep clean kitchens, laundry rooms, and bathrooms; clean rental units between tenants, etc.

Events or Donation Drives: Plan and execute fundraising events or donation drives with support from staff; assist with House of Hope events.

Facility Maintenance: Pick up trash, trim hedges, do yardwork, fix broken furniture, change lightbulbs, etc.

Gardening: Plant, weed, and maintain garden beds and landscaping.

Organizing: Track and sort donations; organize basement storage areas, closets, and pantries; etc.

Painting: Assist with painting interior walls at House of Hope properties. Need not be a professional but painting experience is required.

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Brown County is a volunteer-based nonprofit organization that provides a voice for children who have experienced abuse and/or neglect who are under the legal protection of the court system.

We recruit, train and support community volunteers to advocate on behalf of children under court protection until they are safe and thriving in permanent homes.

CASA volunteers visit the child regularly & submit a monthly report to the judge on the child's safety and well-being to help the judge make important decisions on the child's future. Every CASA works closely with an Advocate Supervisor, on the CASA staff, who provides support and guidance throughout the court process and child's journey.

You do not need any specialized skills to become a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer. CASA volunteers are 21 or older, undergo a background, child protective services and reference check, take part in a personal interview, & complete CASA volunteer pre-service training.

CASA volunteers are patient, open-minded people from all walks of life who have good communication skills, a history of following through on commitments, and a willingness to accept guidance. Above all, CASA volunteers care about children and their futures!

All volunteers go through an initial 30 hours of training (15 hours of online coursework and 15 hours of in-person training). The training includes sections that guide you through the role of the CASA volunteer, the child welfare system, needs and development of children, trauma, mental health, poverty, professional communication, cultural competence, educational needs and permanency.

Once training is completed, volunteers are then sworn in by a Brown County Judge, taking an oath of confidentiality.

We are in need of volunteers to come assist with our Safe Routes to School program.

Every year we go into more than 20 schools educating 3rd graders on how to be safe while walking and riding their bike.  Each child receives a free bike helmet and gets to participate in a rodeo.

The ADRC is always looking for drivers for our Home Delivered Meals program in Manitowoc. Each day, meals are delivered to community members who have difficulties leaving their homes without assistance. Deliveries take place from 10:45am-1:00pm. Meal pickup occurs at the Manitowoc Senior Center (3330 Custer St., Manitowoc). As a driver, you will be given a predetermined route to deliver for the day.

Volunteers for our Home Delivered Meals must have a valid driver's license, a vehicle, and a clean driving record, and they must pass a background check.

Pick your hours, 2, 4, 6, or 8.

Serve as a welcoming presence for donors, residents, and visitors by greeting everyone with a warm smile and friendly interaction. Provide support to House staff by answering/screening phone calls and creating a positive, helpful environment at the front desk.

Provide attentive, loving, and safe childcare for children while their parents participate in evening educational programming. This role supports the overall mission of our community by ensuring children are well-cared for during programming.

Child Watch is a drop-in babysitting program, intended for the children of members and guests who are using the building. Volunteers assist staff by engaging with children in age appropriate activities, games, crafts, and educational experiences to promote their physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development.

Volunteers must be aged 14 or older, and preference is giving to volunteers who have experience babysitting and are certified babysitters. This position requires individuals to be outgoing, energetic, and be willing to engage children, ages 6 months to 7 years old. Volunteers must be able to think on their feet, be flexible with daily duties, and be able to lift up to 30 pounds.

The Seymour Park Food Forest project aims to help alleviate food insecurity and food deserts within the City of Green Bay by growing healthy local food in this public park in a way that is sustainable, costs less money over time, and reduces maintenance for the Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department.  It is a pilot project in partnership with New Leaf Foods, the City of Green Bay, and the Seymour Park Neighborhood Association. This project is located at the Frank B. Seymour Park at 314 S Ashland Ave Green Bay, WI 54303.

Volunteers are needed on an ongoing basis to help to plant, weed, water, harvest, and maintain the garden and food forest. Occasionally, special volunteer projects/events may also be held at Seymour Park. We're looking for volunteers with garden knowledge as well as people that want to learn.

Because we require and provide the training necessary to become a tutor, all are welcome! We ask for a six-month commitment for our adult tutors, but the hours vary depending on the match. What is Reading Coaches for Kids?

Reading Coaches for Kids, coordinated through AmeriCorps Seniors Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), is a volunteer tutoring program designed to increase students' reading abilities and academic success by providing volunteers aged 18 and older in Brown County Kindergarten through 5th grade classrooms during the regular school year and summer school.

This program is open to individuals aged 18 and up, with a special emphasis on those aged 55+ who are interested in being part of the intergenerational experiences that make Reading Coaches for Kids so impactful.. Good Neighbor Week event planning committee is looking for community members that wish to give back by helping to plan and execute a week of minor home repairs, landscaping, and yard maintenance for Green Bay homeowners who may have barriers to completing these types of projects on their own, due to limited income, disability, age, or a family situation. GNW is a collaboration between the city of Green Bay, Green Bay Neighborhoods, and NeighborWorks Green Bay. We meet virtually once every 3 weeks on a Monday from 4:00-5:00pm, February through September, culminating with Good Neighbor Week, the last week in September. Work outside of the meeting time is asked, 1-2 hours a month, depending on the planning stage.   

We are seeking members to join our planning committee or a subcommittee that focuses on:

-developing the application process and determining the projects that will be completed 

-developing sponsorships to fund the projects since the repairs are free to the homeowners

-coordinating individuals and groups of volunteers since all of the work is done by volunteers in the community

-assessing projects for estimates of materials, volunteer time, and equipment

-promoting the event through social media, local media (TV, newspaper, radio), neighborhood and community activities

Not able to attend the meetings but want to help?  Assistance can be given for things involving:

-a computer like preparing spreadsheets, documents, or surveys, etc.

Assists NeighborWorks Green Bay with formulating policies and procedures for lending and counseling activities and identifies strategies for new product development. Assists staff by providing technical expertise, volunteer time to explore new opportunities and services, and understands and advocates for the homeownership program. Asset Management Committee identifies strategies for new project development and location, maintains standards for new capital projects, makes recommendations to board about asset management issues and strategic planning, and provides staff with technical expertise for new opportunities.

Horse leaders control the equine during therapy and adaptive riding sessions and, with direction from the therapist or instructor, and are responsible for maintaining a safe and effective session. Horse leaders must have previous horse experience through riding lessons, owning or leasing a horse, or other comparable experiences. Depending upon level of experience, duties may include leading the equine during sessions, grooming, tacking and untacking, bringing in or turning out horses, basic barn chores, and other duties as needed. All prospective horse leaders must complete orientation and a horse leader assessment.

Side walkers walk alongside the horse and rider and assist in keeping that rider safe during their session. Following direction from a therapist, side walkers may be asked to engage with their riders and assist in therapeutic activities unique to each rider. Side walkers also assist in sanitizing equipment after each session, including helmets, belts, toys, and therapy equipment.

Shifts: 10:30 am-7:00 pm (Mondays), 11:30 am-6:00 pm (Tuesdays), 9:00 am-7:00 pm (Wednesdays), and 10:00 am-7:00 pm (Thursdays). Minimum age: 14.
