Join a dedicated team of trained volunteers from across the country to support communities impacted by severe weather. As an Information & Planning Generalist volunteer you will provide critical insights to operation leadership through the collection, evaluation, analysis and dissemination of operational information.

When housing is disrupted in communities after a disaster, it can be difficult for some people to find new long-term housing. The Shelter Resident Transition Volunteer help shelter residents create personalized plans to overcome roadblocks and transition to new housing. They play a critical role in reducing disaster-caused displacement and aiding in long-term recovery for individuals. Two-week commitment, travel and lodging are provided. Disaster Action Team (DAT) members directly help people affected by disasters ranging from wildfires to hurricanes by providing food, shelter, essential relief supplies and hope. Locally, our most common disaster is home fire. The skills you learn locally are invaluable and make you more effective and efficient. We are looking for volunteers for local farmers markets and other events! We're looking for friendly, enthusiastic volunteers to help us run our booth, connect with the community, and share the story behind our mission. Shifts will vary depending on market schedules throughout the seasons. There are a handful of events throughout the year. We will send more details to you as they become available.

What you’ll do: Set up and run our booth, chat with market-goers about New Leaf’s mission, distribute materials, encourage volunteering and donating, run activities, and answer questions.  Whether you're a longtime supporter or just curious to learn more, we’d love to have you on our team!

Our resource development team is essential to ensuring New Leaf Foods has access to financial resources to fund our projects and events. A volunteer resource development team member will help the team find grants to apply for and may assist in writing and editing grant applications. Team members also brainstorm and manage fundraising campaigns, and come together to conceptualize ways to monetize events to expand outreach for our mission.

On Tuesday evenings in the summer, we race our S2 7.9 at Windjammers Sailing Club in Suamico. We are looking for a few volunteers with big boat racing experience that would be willing to assist with navigating the vessel and coach participants on racing techniques. Summer racing is a 15 week series, but we are looking to have multiple two-person instructor teams to make it an easier commitment. Previous sailing experience on a bigger boat is required.

We are looking for individuals that may want to assist with boat maintenance. Boat maintenance at our organization includes: waxing boats, inspecting and rigging vessels, replacing rigging on sailboats, wiring, trailer repairs, and some basic engine maintenance to name a few categories.

Board members help guide organizational strategy, ensure strong governance, and make decisions that support our continued growth and community impact.

A few of our boats are stored offsite and there is an occasional need to move boats to a different location locally. We are always looking for individuals that might be interested in trailering a boat or assisting with the launching or retrieval of boats. A good running vehicle with a hitch that can tow at least 2,000 lbs is required

Provide a fun and meaningful education experience for children (schools, scouts, daycares, preschools, etc.) in the Garden!

Tours take place throughout the developed areas of the Garden as well as our natural areas. Tours are typically 1.5 hours in length and can cover between ¾ mile to 1 ½ miles. Each guide will lead 15 to 20 students along with several adult chaperones.

Responsibilities: 

Contribute to beautiful, inspiring, and well-maintained public gardens. Gardening Outdoors begins in April and concludes in mid-November, dependent on the weather. 

April-May ~ Take part in Green House transplanting and dividing plants, adding compost and mulch to the flowerbeds, cutting back plants, and removing mulch from roses and planting roses. Spring cleaning in the gardens consists of sweeping, picking up twigs and leaves and other debris.

May-June ~ Beautiful summer landscapes require planting annual and perennials flowerbeds, watering plants and fertilizing roses, and of course, mulching, weeding, dead-heading, and digging spent spring-flowering bulbs.

June-Sept ~ Maintain the gardens by weeding, mulching, pruning, dead-heading, and staking plants, as well as sweeping, and raking leaves.

Sept-Nov ~Help prepare for winter and next spring by planting bulbs and perennials, cleaning up beds, mulching, and putting roses to bed.

Provide a fun and educational experience for adults (tour groups, senior clubs, garden clubs, etc.) during their visit to Green Bay Botanical Garden.

Responsibilities:

We are seeking volunteers to work in a receptionist role at our Green Bay office location. Greet clients and building visitors, answer phones, route calls, and notify staff that their visitor has arrived. May require the use of interpretation services to effectively communicate with visitors. Training is provided.

As a Citizenship Volunteer tutor, you will be matched directly with an immigrant or refugee family and support them on their journey to becoming a citizen of the United States. The Citizenship test is made up of 3 components: Correctly, responding to a selection of 100 Civics questions, confidently answering questions regarding their application (you are not responsible for completing this, as Catholic Charities Green Bay has a team dedicated to this work), and successful completion of the reading and writing components. Your role will be supporting learners as they study and prepare using materials and strategies provided by the Refugee Integration Team.

As an English at Home tutor, you will be matched directly with an immigrant or refugee family and support them on their journey to becoming confident and capable readers, writers, and speakers of English. Along the way, you will also receive training, materials, and support from the Catholic Charities Integration team to ensure you and your student's success.

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Zoo Ambassador at the NEW Zoo! Zoo Ambassadors facilitate interactions between our animals and guests, and help our guests make connections to the animals. Zoo Ambassadors learn how to use empathy to connect our guests with animals in the zoo.

Children's Zoo shifts are  typically 2 hours long, from 10am-12pm or from 12pm-2pm. At some times of the year, shift hours may vary. Shifts are available 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The NEW Zoo is looking for volunteers who are interested in supervising the Giraffe Feeding Experience! 

The Feeding Experience is a daily opportunity for volunteers to be involved in, to support the NEW Zoo. You set your own schedule after training by signing up for open shifts whenever you would like to supervise a feeding sessions. Sessions are typically 2. 5 hours long, with some variation seasonally. 

It’s a great opportunity for those who enjoy working with people – as we’ll teach you how to interact with our visitors and help them make amazing connections with our lovable giraffes, Nigel, Eddie, and Zuri!  Of course, you’ll also get to build some pretty special relationships with the giraffes themselves. Scheduling is flexible.

Childcare: Take care of children while their parents are in programming; shifts are typically 1-2 hours.

Cleaning: Wash windows; vacuum/mop floors; disinfect surfaces; clean upholstery; deep clean kitchens, laundry rooms, and bathrooms; clean rental units between tenants, etc.

Events or Donation Drives: Plan and execute fundraising events or donation drives with support from staff; assist with House of Hope events.

Facility Maintenance: Pick up trash, trim hedges, do yardwork, fix broken furniture, change lightbulbs, etc.

Gardening: Plant, weed, and maintain garden beds and landscaping.

Organizing: Track and sort donations; organize basement storage areas, closets, and pantries; etc.

Painting: Assist with painting interior walls at House of Hope properties. Need not be a professional but painting experience is required.

Support a Parent

Volunteer mentors spend time (2-3 times per month) with parents referred by Brown County Child Protective Services who have identified an interest in having an informal support in their lives. Mentors often spend time helping parents with minor children enhance skills that empower the family by developing household routines, budgeting money, planning meals and shopping for necessary items, connecting them with other community resources, or simply supporting the parent. Matches are based on compatibility and can continue for as long as both parties are interested though the hope would be to have volunteers engaged with their Parent Pal for a minimum of 18 months.

Orientation and training are provided. Mileage reimbursement is available.

Volunteer Guardians Needed!

A legal guardian is a decision maker and an advocate for those who are incompetent due to aging, a developmental disability, chronic mental illness or alcohol and drug abuse (i.e. ward). Guardians ensure that the individual’s rights to proper housing, nutrition, and medical care are met. A guardian is expected to visit their ward at least once a month and complete an annual report. A legal guardian does not financially support the ward, take care of the ward on a day to day basis, nor personally provide a place for the ward to live. Time commitment is based on the needs of the ward.

Volunteers receive training and support from the Brown County Adult Protective Services Unit. A stipend of $15.00 per ward-per month, mileage, and reimbursement for expenses such as copying legal paperwork, postage is available upon request.

Volunteer mentors spend time (2-3 times per month) in a recreational or learning activity with a child, age 3 or older, that has been referred by Brown County Child Protective Services. Volunteer mentors help the child adjust to the separation or loss of a parent, enhance self-esteem and confidence, and learn new skills. Matches are invited to attend a fun activity each month that is free of charge. Matches are based on compatibility and can continue for as long as both parties are interested though the hope would be to have volunteers engaged with their Pal for a minimum of 1 year.

Chaperones spend time with a youth in the Pals Program by attending the program’s monthly group activities. The Pals Program is a mentoring program of Brown County Health & Human Services. Children in the program are age 3 or older from a family that has been or is currently involved with Brown County Child Protective Services. The children needing a chaperone do not have an adult who is able to bring them to the activity to allow them to participate.

Volunteers support children in out-of-home care by supervising the family interaction with their parents. The volunteers help to assure a safe and secure environment both physically and emotionally for the children. Time commitment is based upon the volunteer’s schedule and the particular visit selected by the volunteer in conjunction with the Volunteer Coordinator.

Orientation and training are provided. Mileage reimbursement is available.

Provide valuable behind-the-scenes help with tasks such as administering surveys, organizing files, and assisting shore activities.

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Brown County is a volunteer-based nonprofit organization that provides a voice for children who have experienced abuse and/or neglect who are under the legal protection of the court system.

We recruit, train and support community volunteers to advocate on behalf of children under court protection until they are safe and thriving in permanent homes.

CASA volunteers visit the child regularly & submit a monthly report to the judge on the child's safety and well-being to help the judge make important decisions on the child's future. Every CASA works closely with an Advocate Supervisor, on the CASA staff, who provides support and guidance throughout the court process and child's journey.

You do not need any specialized skills to become a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer. CASA volunteers are 21 or older, undergo a background, child protective services and reference check, take part in a personal interview, & complete CASA volunteer pre-service training.

CASA volunteers are patient, open-minded people from all walks of life who have good communication skills, a history of following through on commitments, and a willingness to accept guidance. Above all, CASA volunteers care about children and their futures!

All volunteers go through an initial 30 hours of training (15 hours of online coursework and 15 hours of in-person training). The training includes sections that guide you through the role of the CASA volunteer, the child welfare system, needs and development of children, trauma, mental health, poverty, professional communication, cultural competence, educational needs and permanency.

Once training is completed, volunteers are then sworn in by a Brown County Judge, taking an oath of confidentiality.
