Get to Know Your Volunteer Center

The Volunteer Center of Brown County builds a stronger community through volunteerism. We believe the strength of a community is directly related to its volunteers. Each year, we match thousands of volunteers with over 180 local nonprofit partners to best utilize time and talent. How This Platform Works

Get Connected is our volunteer engagement platform that allows nonprofits in our area to share their missions and post their volunteer needs. This platform is an extension of our website that allows users to find causes and volunteer opportunities based on their interests.

For Volunteers:

  • We encourage you to do the following to get the most out of your experience on this platform:
    • Update your profile to include your volunteer interests and favorite causes
    • “Fan” agencies that are of interest to you
    • Respond to opportunities you want to volunteer for and invite your friends to join you by sharing the need on social media, etc.
    • Log your volunteer hours – all hours will be added to your volunteer resume
  • A couple of notes:
    • While the Volunteer Center hosts this platform, the agencies manage their own agency profiles and volunteer postings
    • Responding to a volunteer need that is posted on this site is just the first step in the process to volunteering with that nonprofit. After you respond to a volunteer need, the agency that posted the opportunity should reach out to you with next steps. Some nonprofits may require you to participate in an orientation or training, while others may require a background check.
  • For more opportunities, visit https://volunteergb.org/We also encourage you to check out our weekly e-newsletter, the Volunteer Connect, by clicking the yellow “Volunteer Now!” button on our main web page.

For Nonprofits:

  • The Volunteer Center offers this tool to all nonprofits in our community for free as an extension of the services we offer.
  • Benefits of Get Connected for nonprofits:
    • Save time communicating volunteer opportunities and special events.
    • Automatically match individuals with opportunities to serve.
    • Increase community impact and gain exposure for your organization.

    • Your organization will get the most out of the platform by keeping your agency profile and volunteer needs updated. We suggest updating your agency at least every 30 days.
